Proposed data center with ground-floor retail on the vacant, contaminated former West End Production Park site beside the West End MARTA station. Digital Realty proposes to purchase, remediate, and redevelop the property into a two-story facility with 35,000 square feet of retail along Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, roughly 8,000 square feet of outdoor community space, and a new electrical substation. The project cannot proceed under current zoning: Ordinance 24-O-1222, adopted Sept. 3, 2024, bars data centers where any part of a property is within 2,640 feet of a high capacity transit stop, and a proposed text amendment to SPI-21 Subarea 9 (Adair Park Live/Work) that would allow it has been tabled, denied by the Zoning Review Board, and referred back to the City Council zoning committee repeatedly since 2024.
