A Grammy-winning R&B headliner is playing a free show in Downtown Chamblee this Saturday, and the night ends with fireworks. Robin Thicke takes the Chamblee Rocks Summer Concert Series stage on July 4th as part of the city's nod to the nation's 250th birthday, and admission costs exactly nothing.ncerts start at 6:30 p.m. in Downtown Chamblee and wrap by 10:00 p.m., with local food vendors set up throughout.

Robin Thicke, Free, and Fireworks to Close

The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. in Downtown Chamblee, the same streets that usually host farmers markets and antique browsing. Thicke runs his catalog of chart-toppers, and the fireworks follow around 9 p.m. That means a live show and a full pyrotechnics display without fighting Centennial Park crowds or the highway backup afterward. If you're trying to get there, it's two blocks from the MARTA station, so you can skip the parking hunt entirely. AVV will be on the ground Saturday night, so if you spot us out there, come say hey.

Where This Sits in the Summer Series

July 4th is the middle stop on a three-concert run. The series opened June 12th with a Juneteenth celebration and The Evolution of Beyoncé tribute, and it wraps Friday, August 7th with the Boy Band Review, an interactive throwback to the biggest boy bands of the '90s and early 2000s. Every show is free, no tickets and no pre-registration, all starting at 6:30 p.m. VIP packages, sponsorships, and transportation details live at chambleerocks.net.

My Take

How cool is it that Chamblee has this whole lineup ready for its residents? A Grammy winner, a Beyoncé tribute, and a boy band throwback, all free, all within walking distance of home. This is a great way to have some real fun over the summer without having to fight your way into the city for it. More neighborhoods should be taking notes, because Chamblee clearly figured out how to give people a reason to stay close and enjoy where they live.

Which concert are you most likely to actually show up for — Beyoncé tribute, Robin Thicke, or the boy band throwback?
