About

About This Program

FHA-insured home loans with down payments as low as 3.5%, low closing costs and easier credit qualifying, through FHA-approved lenders.

The Federal Housing Administration (FHA), part of HUD, insures home loans so lenders can offer better terms, including low down payments, low closing costs and easier credit qualifying. For first-time buyers, the down payment can be as low as 3.5% of the purchase price on 1- to 4-unit homes. FHA also offers reverse mortgages for homeowners 62 and older who live in a home they own outright or with a low loan balance, and financing for manufactured and mobile homes. Apply through an FHA-approved lender. HUD-approved housing counselors can give advice at 800-569-4287.
