About

About This Program

Federal HOME funds that DCA awards to developers, local governments and nonprofits to build and repair affordable housing. Not a direct household program.

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) administers federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds to develop multifamily rental housing and to build and renovate single-family homes. HOME money reaches residents through funded projects: rental developments built with Housing Tax Credits, HOME set-asides for nonprofit Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs), and the Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP), which grants HOME funds each year to local governments, nonprofits and public housing authorities to build homes for eligible buyers and repair owner-occupied homes. The state also received $87 million in HOME-American Rescue Plan funds for housing, rental assistance, supportive services and shelter for people who are homeless or at risk. Residents apply to local HOME-funded programs, not to DCA.
