About

About This Program

Up to $20,000 in down payment help for first-time buyers in the City of Atlanta, or up to $25,000 for some public servants and voucher holders.

Atlanta Housing's Down Payment Assistance (DPA) program helps eligible first-time homebuyers buy a home inside the City of Atlanta. Buyers can receive up to $20,000. Public safety, healthcare and education workers, current military members, veterans and Atlanta Housing voucher participants can receive up to $25,000. Buyers apply through an Atlanta Housing participating lender, who must also approve a fixed-rate conventional, FHA or VA first mortgage with a 15- to 30-year term. Atlanta Housing DPA can be combined with other down payment assistance if Atlanta Housing and the lender approve. Processing takes about 30 days after the lender has a complete credit file. Atlanta Housing says its eligibility rules can change without notice.
