DeKalb County's Senior Tree Removal Program, approved by the Board of Commissioners in January 2025 and run by the Community Development Department, removes dangerous trees at no cost for qualifying senior homeowners. The tree must be at the homeowner's primary residence. To apply, get a pre-application card from the Community Development office at 178 Sams St., Suite A3500, Decatur, GA 30030, or by calling 404-371-2693 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), then return it by mail or in person. The county says funds are limited, so apply as soon as possible.
