About

About This Program

Energy-efficiency upgrades such as insulation, air sealing and heating and cooling work for low-income Georgia homes, through local agencies.

Georgia's Weatherization Assistance Program, administered by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) and funded by the U.S. Departments of Energy and Health and Human Services, makes the homes of low-income households more energy efficient by treating the house as a single system. Local community action agencies run the program: your county's agency decides eligibility, then sends an energy auditor to test the home, including energy-related health and safety conditions, and installs the most cost-effective measures. Preference goes to older adults, people with disabilities and families with children. Single-family homes, manufactured homes and multifamily buildings are eligible. Because of high demand, some counties have a waiting list.
