About

About This Program

SBA certification for small businesses based in historically underutilized business zones, with set-aside contracts and a 10% price preference.

SBA's HUBZone program helps small businesses in historically underutilized business zones win federal contracts. Certified businesses can compete for HUBZone set-aside contracts, get a 10% price evaluation preference in full and open competitions, and still compete under other programs they qualify for. To qualify, a business must be small under SBA size standards, at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens (or by certain community, cooperative, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or tribal organizations), have its principal office in a HUBZone, and have at least 35% of its employees living in a HUBZone. Check addresses on SBA's HUBZone map; SBA expects map updates during 2026 and in July 2028. Apply at SBA Certifications. Certified businesses recertify every three years and may get unannounced SBA visits.
