About

About This Program

SBA microloans of up to $50,000 through nonprofit lenders, to help small businesses and some childcare centers start up and grow.

SBA's Microloan program provides loans of up to $50,000 to help small businesses and certain not-for-profit childcare centers start up and expand; the average microloan is about $13,000. SBA funds nonprofit, community-based intermediary lenders, which make all credit decisions, set the terms and also offer management and technical assistance. Microloans can pay for working capital, inventory, supplies, furniture, fixtures, machinery and equipment, but not existing debts or real estate. The longest repayment term is seven years, and interest rates generally run between 8% and 13%, depending on the lender. To apply, work with an SBA-approved microlender; SBA's list of microlenders serving Georgia includes Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs (ACE).
