About

About This Program

Register your business on SAM.gov to bid on federal contracts and apply for federal assistance; registration includes a Unique Entity ID.

SAM.gov, the U.S. General Services Administration's System for Award Management, is where businesses register to do business with the federal government. A full entity registration lets you bid on government contracts and apply for federal assistance as a prime awardee, and SAM.gov assigns a Unique Entity ID as part of it. Businesses that only report as sub-awardees or do certain other transactions may need only a Unique Entity ID, which requires just the legal business name and physical address, but cannot apply directly for federal awards. You'll need a SAM.gov account, signed in through Login.gov, and a lot of information about your business; SAM.gov's Entity Registration Checklist lists it. Registrations must be renewed every 365 days. The Federal Service Desk (FSD.gov) offers free technical help.
