About This Short
In this video I'm on the ground in Midtown where demolition equipment has finally arrived at the Atlanta Botanical Garden after three and a half years of planning. This is a 25 percent expansion adding 8 acres to the current 30-acre footprint, and the biggest deal here is a brand new entrance built directly onto the BeltLine Eastside Trail near Piedmont Road. That makes the Botanical Garden the first major Atlanta cultural institution to open a front door straight onto the trail. The $150 million project is targeting a late 2028 opening, putting the finish line about two and a half years out. The current Garden covers 30 acres in Midtown and draws over half a million visitors a year. This expansion adds 8 acres and, for the first time, creates direct access from the BeltLine Eastside Trail, so walkers, runners, and cyclists can step straight in without navigating Midtown traffic or searching for parking. The $150 million project is designed around connectivity, not just square footage.
