Decatur on Foot: One Afternoon, Three Blocks, and Where a Business Starts

An idea is not funding. It is not guidance either, and it is not somebody who can tell you what your next move should be. We went looking across South DeKalb for the people and places that supply all three, and we walked Decatur to see how it fits together.

About This Short

South DeKalb’s business story is told by people building something here. In this episode, we meet founders who turned their skills and experiences into businesses, including Chef Nevia of Platinum Cake Designs and the women behind L&L Crafty Finds.

We also visit the Decide DeKalb pop-up incubator to ask a practical question: once someone has started a business, where can they turn for guidance and connections to help with the next stage? Along the way, we look at how development in South DeKalb could create opportunities for local businesses, and what founders need to take part.

The preview clips introduced you to some of these people. This Is Atlanta: South DeKalb Edition brings their conversations together so you can hear what they tried, what helped, and what questions they are still working through.
