Morehouse and Spelman Share a Century. Now They May Share an Address.

About This Short

Morehouse and Spelman’s brother-sister relationship reaches well beyond the campuses’ proximity. Their students have shared classes and performances for generations. The Den at Eight50 West will add a residential chapter to that history.

The campus-adjacent community is under construction at 850 West End Ave. SW. It is planned to offer 793 beds in 305 apartment-style units, with occupancy targeted for fall 2028. Morehouse and Spelman juniors and seniors will receive leasing priority. The Den is separate from the residence halls the colleges are developing on their individual campuses.

For students and families, the remaining question is what it will cost to live there. An estimated rent of about $1,200 a month per bed has been reported, but final rates for specific units and lease terms are not yet available. Watch our video for the story behind this new shared community and the details still to come.
