Atlanta's Getting an Elevated Boardwalk Trail Through the Woods

This video covers the Silver Comet Connector Segment 3, a trail section currently under construction in Underwood Hills along Chattahoochee Avenue, just west of The Works. Instead of paving over the landscape, this design uses an elevated boardwalk that winds through the tree canopy over Woodall Creek while keeping the forest floor untouched below. It is scheduled to open in August 2027 and will serve as the missing link connecting downtown Atlanta to the Silver Comet Trail, giving riders over 60 miles of car-free route all the way to the Alabama state line. What Is the Silver Comet Connector Trail?

The Silver Comet Connector is the trail system being built to link Atlanta's core trail network to the Silver Comet Trail, which already runs 61.5 miles from Smyrna to the Georgia-Alabama state line. Segment 3 in Underwood Hills is one piece of that connection, and when it opens in August 2027, it will make a continuous 60-plus mile car-free route from downtown Atlanta to Alabama a reality. It is the missing link Atlanta's trail network has needed for years.
