MARTA Arts Center: High-Rises Could Transform Midtown

MARTA’s Arts Center Station in Midtown might finally get the high-rise makeover that’s been talked about for years.

Back in 2022, bold proposals came in for the 6-acre site next to the High Museum and Alliance Theatre, but the project was shelved. Now, MARTA has a new leader and Arts Center is back on the table. The site could become a multi–high-rise development, but no design has been chosen yet — the renderings you’ve seen are old concepts, not the final plan. A new request for proposals could be issued as soon as January. With interest rates easing and Midtown booming, the timing might finally be right.

Do you think Arts Center Station should rise into the skyline or stay low-key?
