About This Short
The project will run about half a mile from Oakland Cemetery west to the Downtown Connector, between Memorial Drive and MLK Jr. Drive.
Current design options on the table include:
• Event lawns with views of the State Capitol
• Wide promenades and art spaces
• Fountains and woodland gardens
• Shaded walking paths
• A central water feature near the food truck plaza
Phase one is funded with $560,000 from District 5’s Moving Atlanta Forward bond and $500,000 from the Parks Department’s Improvement Fund. This will cover the design work and construction of one block of the park.
Public input starts later this month and the city is asking for feedback before anything is finalized.
